Abductory Twist

The abductory twist is a common finding on a gait analysis. Its is commonly associated with overpronation. This video explains it really well:

While the video makes the abductory twist seem straight forward and it probably is, not all agree. Those who tend to use the term, abductory twist, tend to believe like the video above and that the problem is in the foot and the change in friction during heel off. The term, medial heel whip, is also used to describe this, but those that use this term are more likely to believe that the problem is associated with weak hip adductors. There is no clear evidence either way, but there is plenty of discussion here and here and my analysis here.
